I have been getting myself out to the doggie park, trying to get in three good days a week with the dogs and the change of season. Bodie, the 10 year old labrador has been huffing and puffing a lot. I learned today that in big dogs their larynx often shuts down. I guess it is a very long nerve and easily shuts down with age. In the worst case, they panic and crumble. Perhaps, they can't breathe well enough to go out in warm weather and must stick to cool weather. Bodie weighs about 100 lbs. If he crumbles, I have to figure out how to get him to a vet fast. OR I can opt for a pretty expensive operation on the flaps on the Larynx. For a week or so, I will wait and see. Observe.Take notes. But I have to keep Bodie moving because or Arthritis. Sort of like me.
I really took him to the vet to see about a skin flap he's had for 4 years and started to lick into a red mess. I caught it early. Probably a staph infection brought on by allergies. Even the Vet told me she'd been on Claritin for a month now. Got antibiotics for the infection.
Kansas is having a bit of rain, which will help everyone's allergies.
But I see my 95 year old Mom getting older and as she often says on the phone, "Getting older is not easy."
Hedge apples are out. They say, if you pick a few and put them in the house, you won't have spiders.
