Except...once in a writing class in Tucson ,about 2001,there was a girl/woman who was also a good writer who wrote about being beautiful. What she said was true. She had been a model and drew away. But mostly, people would not talk to her. Including me. She was so beautiful.After the essay, we all talked to her. And she was still, so shy about being beautiful. She saw it as a burden.
In the local production of "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" there was a somewhat suggestive dance for the twins. They are in heavy stage make-up and just refused photos in "those" outfits.
They don't get that they are beautiful at age 15. No matter what.
And today my daughter Liz stopped by the house under construction and really doesn't get that after 40 she is beautiful too.
